Is
your toilet running?
If
your toilet is leaky, noisy or continuously running, it is
most likely an indication that the flapper is not sealing
properly. To determine this, follow the simple food color
test below.
Food
color test
1. Remove tank cover and add drops of food coloring to toilet
tank.
2. Wait 25 minutes.
3. If color appears in toilet bowl, the flapper is leaking.
Common
Toilet Problems
Problem: Fill valve turns on and off by itself
or runs continuously (valve may hiss), but water level in
tank remains below top of flush valve overflow.
Solution: Fill valve is turning on or running
due to a slow leak in the tank, most likely caused by a worn-out
flapper. Replace flapper with one of Lavelle’s premium
Korky toilet flappers for optimum performance.

Problem:
Fill valve turns on and/or continuously runs, and water level
rises above top of overflow tube, spilling into overflow tube.
Solution: Clean fill valve cap. Follow service
steps to remove cap and rinse under water. If cap and rubber
diaphragm show significant wear, replace with a new cap assembly
p/n R528.

Problem:
Toilet tank fills too slowly.
Solution: Confirm that water supply valve
is completely open and there are no kinks in supply line.
If flow does not improve, then clean strainer by following
the fill valve service steps below. If problem persists, replace
with fill valve unit, p/n 528.

Problem:
Flapper closes too soon.
Solution: Replace current flapper with Korky
Plus Adjustable flapper p/n 2004BP. Slide float down for more
flush.

Problem:
Flapper doesn’t seal/sit properly on flush valve.
Solution: Confirm that flapper is properly
attached to flush valve. Cut the collar for plastic flush
valves. Keep the collar for brass flush valves.
