Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Gerber toilet keep running?
A running toilet is often caused by a worn flapper or flush valve seal that allows water to leak from the tank into the bowl. Replacing these parts is a good place to start. If replacing the flapper or seal doesn't fix the running toilet, replace the fill valve next.
How can I tell if water is leaking from the tank into the bowl?
Flush the toilet and mark the water level in the tank once it is done refilling. Then turn off the water supply valve and wait for 20-30 minutes. If the water level drops, you have a slow leak in the tank.
To find the leak, wait for another hour and see where the water level drops to. If it drops to the flapper, your flapper is leaking. If it drains completely, your flush valve and tank-to-bowl gasket are leaking and need to be replaced.
