How to Plunge a Toilet

Insert the plunger at a 45-degree angle, allowing the plunger head to fill with water. Helps avoid splashing, especially in nearly full toilets.

Once the plunger head is full of water, position it over the outlet hole. Tilt it upright to create a tight seal when it is centered over the outlet hole. Without a proper seal, the plunging action won't be effective.

Once you have a tight seal, begin to push and pull with slow pulses to ensure the water doesn't splash. A common misconception is that the force comes from the pushing; the real power lies in the pulling motion, which creates suction to help dislodge the clog from the trapway.

If you are using the Beehive Max, the clog should be cleared in 1-2 plunges (extra stubborn clogs may require more). Slow drainage or standing water may indicate the clog is still partially blocking the drain. 

If you are not using the Beehive Max, you might have to repeat steps 1-3. If you find that you have repeated these steps multiple times, you should get the Beehive Max, or you may need to call a professional plumber.
